How to Give a User RDP Access to a Server

To give a specific user RDP access to a specific server follow the steps below.


  1. RDP into the server that the user is wanting RDP access to.
  2. Click on the Windows Start Button then begin typing “Computer Management”.
  3. Open Computer Management.
  4. Using the left hand column, navigate to Computer Management (Local) > System Tools > Local Users and Groups > Groups > Remote Desktop Users.
  5. Double click on Remote Desktop Users.
  6. Add username of user requesting RDP access to that specific server to the list.


You can also use a remote server to grant a user RDP access to a client system.


  1. Log into a management server.
  2. Click on the Windows Start Button then begin typing “Computer Management”.
  3. Open Computer Management, the right click on the words “Computer Management (Local)” on the left hand column.
  4. Click on “Connect to another computer …” then click on the Browse… button.
  5. Enter the name of the remote system in the box and click on “Check Names”.
  6. Confirm the name and it will connect to the system through Computer Management.
  7. Navigate to Computer Management (ClientSystem.GUSTAVORAYOS.COM) > System Tools > Local Users and Groups > Groups > Remote Desktop Users.
  8. Double click on Remote Desktop Users.
  9. Add username of user requesting RDP access to that specific server to the list.
